Harvest Festival Projects

I'm proud to be a Kadazandusun lady. The spirit of Ka'amatan or Harvest Festival these past two months (May - June) is still strong. The recent week, I had completed a few traditional costumes (modified ones to suit the kids' movement and comfort). So here they are. My very first sewing project on traditional costume. Not bad eh. I know it's not excellent as some laces don't match perfectly but hey! I was in a hurry and for a novice/truly a beginner, I'm proud of the end products. What say you?

Teardrop bag: Week 2 & 3

iron interfacing to fabric pieces

making the pleat

attaching the band

assembling the outer bag

making the hip

attaching the hip

basting the handle piece

voila!! Can't even wait for week 4 to get it done. It is so straighforward. I love this bag. The instructions in the book are quite easy to understand but surely not for beginners as there are no photos to display the steps. This is going to be my fave bag for a few weeks until i get to sew another one.

Sew Along : Teardrop bag pattern by Amy Butler Week 1 update

I've decided to join a sew along project organised by a page in FB (1H1P- 1 hari 1 produk). A group which aims to inspire members to be productive, at least a product a day, almost impossible for me as I'm only sewing when i have a free time. Anyway, we decided to do all the patterns found in Amy Butler's styles stitches book. So here is the first project as voted by many. The teardrop bag. I've chosen my fabrics and cut out the pattern pieces.

Feb and March projects

These  are some of the items I managed to complete or receive for the projects I've participated in recent months.
Craft swap project : The tote bag was made and given to me by 'Simply Lania'. Love this so much.

Sew Along : A little purse thingy by thimbleanna. For me this is the most challenging purse to sew. I've no patience for small items it seems.

A reversible tote made by me to a craft swap partner. Not the best but this is one of my first tote bags actually. Quite  impressive for a beginner i think. haha...I do love it. Now it is safely delivered to the new owner.

Jan - Feb Sew Along and Craft Swap projects

Cosmo bag - pattern by Amy Butler. I believe this is a smaller version of it. The most difficult one to sew so far. Phew!
A handphone pouch. Made with Keykalou pattern. For a craft swap.
charm Square bag. - Pattern by Mad quilter ( have to reconfirm this). I'm proud to have sewn this.  Love this roomy bag.

PVC project..

Recently, I've been asked by my cousin to sew her a bag - she provided the fabric. She ended up giving me PVC fabric to sew. Hmmm...I've never sewn any pvc before so this was my first challenge. I'm happy to announce that I've completed the bag and with additional fabric, I made the a clutch for her as well. Tadaa.... here they are - the reversible bag (as requested) and the extra clutch made of PVC fabric. Not bad for a first timer eh...
Outer view - pvc. I've added the middle fabric and the ric rac just to make it more interesting. What do you think?

Inside View. I've added the pocket to make it not boring to look at.  The maroon fabric is not PVC, not sure what it is but the label in the shop stated as yellow line fabric. Any idea what it is?
I like the PVC fabric chosen by my cousin. Lovely.

My pouch has arrived!!

as you can see in the pic above, my craft swap partner Mdm Zai made and sent this lovely pouch to me. Look at those vibrant colours! I just love it. What a wonderful idea. Thanks Mdm Zai!

Simple bag organizer

This is my first attempt at making a bag organizer. This idea was a result from a challenge by my Facebook group : sew-a-long bag organizer. So this is the result. Not the best but i'm just happy to have sewn one. I think it is great for my handbag which is, of course, very messy. I adapted the pattern to make the lunch bag and edited the steps and add in the pockets all around on the outside and the inside to fit all my things. Well, almost all the things, excluding the garbage and stuffs i'll accumulated by the week's end (or even months!) I love it! Thanks for the great challenge.

My first shoulder bag

My latest project this week is a shoulder bag. You can find the tutorial here by tiny happy. It looked easy and it was quite simple actually and fun to do this. Really like the tutorial.
This is the completed bag. I'm using heavy cotton.

I made the fabric covered button myself. I bought the tool kit from Daiso at 1Borneo.

One inside pocket. It is quite spacious. I love it. Now i can go anywhere in style. :-)

Gathered clutch

This is what i've been learning this week. The gathered clutch. The first time I saw the tutorial here, I straight away make one. Just love the design.
First try. Fabrics I bought from Etsy.

Too many pockets.

My very first handmade clutch.

Second attempt, with different selections of fabrics.

With less pockets.

And this is just a simple pencil case for my giveaway winner. If you haven't joined in, pls do so. Thanks.

Pencil case turned Coin Purse.

I tried to follow a tutorial on how to sew a pencil case by Sew Addict but it turned out to be more of a coin or tissue pouch. If i did manage to fold the side to that triangular shape, the case will be too short for any pencils to fit in. Hmm...should study seam allowance more. Never mind. This is my first try.
i made two of them.

It turned out that the fabric is too thick to fold. huhu....
But on a bright side, I still can use them. :-)
